Las feroces aprendices Wang consists of three novels published in a single volume. Its framework is the social order and the harsh customs that rule the life of Chinese peasants, which the three sisters fervently wish to escape. Yumi, the older sister, fights for her survival with insight and determination, facing an overwhelming sexual discrimination. The decisions she makes, triggered by her sense of honor, will affect the future of her sister Yuxiu, the second novel’s main character. Her beauty and pride will provoke a series of events which will accelerate her transfer to the Administrative City, following in the footsteps of the Wang’s first-born; her bold actions depict the changes experienced by Chinese women in the 1970s and 1980s. Finally, little Yuyang, a student in boarding school, will discover that the revolutionary ideals of her country’s educational system are secondary to personal ambitions; she will be forced to spy, and in fulfilling her peculiar task, a rousing aspect of her intimacy will be revealed.
