Was born in Isla Colón, Bocas del Toro Province, Panama, in 1957. Poet, short-story writer, novelist and dramatist, she holds a degree in Social Work. She works as a radio and television scriptwriter and as an instructor of creative writing workshops. She has been a founder and a coordinator of numerous Central American cultural collectives, for which she has been an executive, an editor or a correspondent. Consuelo Tomás has been an actor for children’s theater, a musical composer and an editor for studies carried out by specialized international organizations (UNICEF, PNUD, UNPFA, OPS), in her native country and in the Central American region.
Her work has been included in anthologies published in Central America, the West Indies, the United States and Spain (Páginas de Espuma), and translated to ten languages. Her main titles include, in poetry: Apelaciones (1992), Motivos generales (1992), Confieso estas ternuras y estas rabias (1984), Las preguntas indeseables (1985), Agonía de la reina (1995), Libro de las propensiones (2002). In prose: Cuentos rotos (1992), Inauguración de La Fé (1995), Pa’na’ma quererte (2007). In theatre: Evangelio según San Borges (2004) and in novel, Lágrima de dragón (2010).
